Dal Methi Usal in English:

We Maharashtrians have a bowl of dal almost everyday in the meals. The repetitive typical dal sometimes tastes uninteresting. Came across a recipe which I would like to share with you. It’s Dal Methi Usal. Yes, tur dal with spouted fenugreek seeds gel very well and provide you a twisted version of dal or you may call it twisted version of usal. . The most nutritious dish for you as both excel in the nutrients they provide. Proteins and iron in awesomely rich quantities. The mild bitter flavour enhances the taste, however, you may add a lil’bit of jaggery to kill the bitterness. Try this recipe at home. Check it out step by step with pictures!

उसळीसाठी लागणारे साहित्य:

१) १ वाटी तूर डाळ

२) १ मोठा चमचा मेथी दाने

३) ३-४ कोकम

४) लाल तिखट

५) हळद

६) मीठ

७) गूळ

८) २-३ लसूण पाकळ्या

९) कोथिंबीर बारीक चिरलेली

फोडणीसाठी लागणारे साहित्य:

१) तेल

२) मोहरी

३) हींग

४) ३ सुख्या लाल मिरच्या

कृती:

तूरीची डाळ व मेथी दाने आदल्या रात्री वेगवेगळे भिजू घालावे.

दुसऱ्या दिवशी एका पातेल्यात फोडणी तयारी करावी त्यासाठी थोडेसे तेल गरम करावे त्यात थोडीशी मोहरी, हींग घालावा.

ह्या फोडणीवर प्रथम भिजवलेली मेथी घालावी.

मग त्यावर भिजवलेली तूरडाळ घालावी.

थोडेसे परतून घ्यावे.

परतल्यावर पातेलीवर झाकण ठेवावे व त्यात पाणी ठेवावे  २ वाफा काढाव्यात.

आता या डाळीत ३ वाट्या गरम पाणी घालावी.

हळद  घालावी.

डाळ बोटचेपी शिजली की त्यात लाल तिखट, मिठ, कोकम, गूळ व ठेचलेली लसूण घालून
सरसरित उसळ करून घ्यावी.

डाळ मोडणार नाही याची दक्ष्यता घ्यावी.

आता उरलेले साहित्य वापरून पुन्हा एकदा वरुन फोडणी करावी व तयार उसळीवर घालावी.

बारीक चिरलेली कोथिंबीर घालून सर्व्ह करावी.
